To promote employer best practices and enhance career opportunities for individuals with disabilities, Disability:IN Minnesota invites local employers and job seekers to participate in an annual INclusive Career Fair event.
This fair brings together the hiring needs of employers and matches it with qualified, diverse and talented candidates with disabilities to drive disability inclusion results. Employers leverage this event to recruit for mentorships, internships and employment opportunities at their workplace. All Disability:IN Minnesota employer members participate in this event at a discount based on their membership level.
Here is what attendees have to say about the event:
“Great event with lots of incredible people. It is amazing to see events like this taking place.”
“Just getting out and talking to employers, resume information, how to interview was all a morale booster.”
Mayo Clinic’s Diversity Recruitment Specialist, Dawn Kirchner, attended Disability:IN Minnesota’s INclusive Career Fair in November 2019. The career fair connected Mayo Clinic to talented college students, recent graduates, and other job seekers with disabilities. This video highlights the journey to a life-changing career with the support of Mayo Clinic recruitment.
Being 15 years into my career now, I look back on the 2005 MNBLN Career Fair with fondness and gratitude for the opportunity and encouragement it provided. As a college student at the time, I was eager to pursue a career in finance, but questioned my “marketability“, what types of opportunities may or may not be available to me, and what limitations my disability could pose to my job prospects and career potential. The career fair was a turning point for me because it provided an opportunity to be seen by, and begin a dialogue with, many large and respected employers. The conversations and interviews that came out of that were a huge confidence boost for me and helped to set me on a great trajectory.
